Jurassic Park
On a remote jungle island, genetic engineers have created a dinosaur game park. An astonishing technique for recovering and cloning dinosaur DNA has been discovered. Now one of mankind’s most thrilling fantasies has come true and the first dinosaurs that the Earth has seen in the time of man emerge. But, as always, there is a dark side to the fantasy and after a catastrophe destroys the park’s defence systems, the scientists and tourists are left fighting for survival…
The Lost World
It is now six years since the secret disaster at Jurassic Park, six years since the extraordinary dream of science and imagination came to a crashing end – the dinosaurs destroyed, the park dismantled, and the island indefinitely closed to the public. But there are rumours that something survived. And when a team go to investigate, they are determined not to give it a chance to escape. Michael Crichton takes the terrifying events of Jurassic Park even further in this unstoppably readable adventure sequel, told by a master storyteller.
About the Author:
Michael Crichton was a prolific American author, screenwriter, and filmmaker who rose to fame in the late 20th century with his unique brand of science fiction and techno-thriller novels. Born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1942, Crichton showed an early aptitude for writing and science, earning a degree in biological anthropology from Harvard University in 1964.
After graduation, Crichton began a career in medicine, studying at Harvard Medical School and practising briefly as a physician. However, he quickly found that his true passion lay in writing, and he began penning novels in his spare time. His first book, The Andromeda Strain, was published in 1969, and its success catapulted Crichton to literary stardom.
Over the course of his career, Crichton wrote over two dozen novels, many of which were adapted into successful films and television shows. He was known for his unique blend of science fiction, suspense, and action, and his works often explored themes of science, technology, and the consequences of unchecked human ambition.
Crichton’s most famous work, Jurassic Park, was published in 1990 and became an instant classic. The novel, which explores the dangers of cloning and genetic engineering, was later adapted into a blockbuster film franchise that has grossed billions of dollars worldwide. The success of Jurassic Park solidified Crichton’s place as one of the most influential science fiction writers of his time.
